It was only my intention to write a short story with multiple options and see if I could make it in Ren'py. The idea of programming was completely foreign to me, and I wasn't confident that I could do it.
Even though I don't have very good programming skills, I made a playable Visual Novel. Because I didn't create any renders, some might argue that it isn't really a visual novel. Instead of using placeholder pictures, I focused on writing and learning basic programming. I even had to divide my short story into two seasons because it grew so long!
It was never my intention to share this game with anyone. As a matter of personal amusement, I did this. Besides learning to program, I wanted to improve my English skills and create a story. I got curious about my story after I had spent almost a year writing season 1 and spent almost a year doing so. It was published on f95zone.to see if anyone would be interested in playing it.
Though I tagged the game as a text-based game, many were frustrated by the lack of visuals and gave the game bad reviews. However, many people who played the game loved the story, which motivated me to write a second season.
One artist contacted me in December 2020 and asked if he could make the visuals for the game. Obviously, I accepted, and we have been working on this project ever since. At some point, the first artist had to withdraw from the project due to personal reasons, but other artists helped me, and we are now ready to release the pilot.
A little over a day of gameplay makes up the pilot, while the entire story covers more than 50 days. For this project to be completed, I will need more artists to help me or an artist that can work full-time. I really appreciate any help you can give me through this Patreon site, and I hope it will help me finance this project.
